John Irungu, MS.
John Irungu is the founder and C.E.O of Cartinez Shields. At Cartinez, he leads the team's initiatives in strategy and product development. John's research interests include public safety, emerging technologies, firearms safety, and Intelligent systems. Prior to founding Cartinez, John worked as a Data Analyst with the D.C. Government. He was also a Data Science research fellow with The Lab D.C., a research unit at D.C.'s Mayor's Office. He holds an MS. in Computer Science from The University of the District of Columbia.
Michael B Tannen, PhD.
Michael Tannen is a cofounder and Senior Advisor at Cartinez. An economist by profession, Tannen leads Cartinez's business strategy and advisory on market outreach, planning, and business initiatives. Tannen holds extensive consultancy experience as an economist who has consulted with the World Bank, Brookings, and the Department of Defense in different advisory capacities. He holds a PhD in Economics from Brown University.
Hany Eldeib, PhD.
Hany Eldeib is a cofounder of Cartinez Shields, where he also serves as the lead engineer. Hany has been instrumental to developing the Cartinez school safety architecture and other team projects. He brings vast experience and expertise to Cartinez, having served for over 30 years as a systems engineer in satellite communications, project management, and technology and regulation landscapes. A certified PMP, Hany holds a PhD in Systems Engineering from University of Virginia.
Henock Negussie, MS.
Henock is a principal at Cartinez, where he assists the team's technical role in processing engineering and technical writing. He also serves as the advanced analytics lead. Henock’s industry experience includes serving as the Lead Process Engineer and coordinator at Micron Technologies. He holds a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from University of Cape town and an MSc in Information systems from University of Virginia.
